Creative Dreams Outreach Center was founded in 2006 by our director, Jackie Stouffer. Although our participants are middle and high school students, in the beginning, our art lessons, were elementary level lessons. Many of our participants are now accomplished artists and have endeavored to win local art contests.
Through our academic tutoring, we have progressed from only one or two participants achieving passing grades, to an 80% passing percentage
Although, many of our participants love to dance, previously, they were not afforded the opportunity to be part of a dance class. Our musicians have become accomplished guitarists, pianists and drummers, some of whom have begun their own bands, or hope to become part of worship teams at the churches they attend. Through our academic tutoring, we have progressed from only one or two participants achieving passing grades, to an 80% passing percentage. Each year, this percentage improves.
Our goal everyday is to help each youth feel loved and accepted.
Testimonials from our volunteers and participants:
As a Christian ministry, we feel that our success can best be measured by whether or not each participant, whether they attend our programs for a day, or everyday, feels more loved and accepted when they leave than when they came. Our goal everyday is to help each youth feel loved and accepted.
Julissa: “Creative Dreams helped me to stay out of trouble and gave me a place to feel safe and loved, while helping me academically. The longer I stayed, the more I wanted to keep going and help people the way I was helped. I also had so much support whenever I thought I failed, there were people to bring me up and remind me I will make it far.”
William: “Each and every time I walk through the door of Creative Dreams, I get a chance to learn new things. It’s a great feeling to know I have a second home to come to when I need support in every aspect of life.”
Mrs. Janice: “In my many years at Creative Dreams, I have spent one on one time with many of the kids. I have enjoyed seeing the kids try something new and while they learning a new skill, I encourage them to do their best. As their skill grows, their confidence grows.”
Ms. Daisy: “As a single mom, working and attending school full-time, I could barely make ends meet and did not know what I was going to do for after school care. I don’t remember how we found Creative Dreams, but I am so glad we did. It was a safe place that provided fun and learning after school, but it also provided me with the opportunity to continue working towards my professional goals and build a better tomorrow for my son and I. During the time my son attended Creative Dreams, he was able to make new friends, participate in events, and so much more. Not only was this beneficial for my son, but it allowed me to finish school, earn my degree, attend the police academy, and start my career as a Police Officer.”
